Crockery and glass are wrapped piece by piece and packed upright; sofas, mattresses and polished furniture are covered with blankets and stretch film; beds and wardrobes are dismantled and fixed again. Every carton is labelled with its room so setting is quick.
Moving with children, elders and pets
Moving day is busy and noisy. If possible, let children and elders spend it with relatives, or set up one quiet room with snacks, water and chargers.
Pack a bag for each child with clothes, a favourite toy and school things for the first days. Keep elders’ medicines with you, not in the vehicle.
Pets get stressed by strangers and open gates – keep them in a carrier or a closed room until the team has left.
Booking and payment terms
The price is fixed after a free survey, on site or by video call, and shared on WhatsApp in writing. It includes the vehicle, driver, labour and, for the with-packing option, packers and packing material.
A small advance confirms the date, and the balance is paid after the move, in cash or by bank transfer. There are no extra charges on the day unless you add items or services.
If you need to change the date, tell us at least a day before and we will move the booking at no cost.
Mistakes that make shifting expensive
The most common mistake is underestimating the amount of goods. If the vehicle is too small, a second trip is needed, which costs more than booking the right size at the start.
Not mentioning upper floors without a lift, a long walk from the gate or special items like a piano or safe also causes surprises on the day. Share these at the survey and they are included in the price.
Booking at the last minute at month-end, when most leases end, leaves fewer choices. Booking a few days earlier gives you your preferred date and time.
Best time to shift your home
Month-end and the first days of the month are the busiest because most rental agreements change then. Mid-month and mid-week dates are easier to book.
In summer, start early in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat; in the monsoon keep a little extra time and make sure the vehicle is fully covered. Winter mornings are cold but ideal for moving.
During Ramadan we plan the work in the morning so the team finishes before iftar, and before Eid it is best to book a week ahead.
How to prepare your house before shifting
Start with the rooms you use least – store room, guest room, books and decoration. Sort each room into keep, sell, donate and throw; every item you do not move saves money and space on the vehicle.
Empty drawers of loose small items, keep screws of dismantled furniture in labelled bags, and take photos of TV and computer wiring before unplugging. Clear the path from each room to the gate so loading is quick.
Keep jewellery, cash, passports, property papers and medicines in one bag that stays with you on moving day.
How fragile items are packed
Crockery is wrapped piece by piece in paper and bubble wrap and packed upright in small, strong cartons with padding on all sides. Glass tops and mirrors get corner guards and are packed in cardboard sheets or wooden frames.
LED TVs travel in their original box or in a padded carton, always standing. Chandeliers, artwork and decoration pieces are wrapped separately and marked “Fragile – this side up”.
Fragile cartons are loaded last, on top, and unloaded first, so nothing heavy is ever placed on them.
Getting appliances ready for shifting
Defrost and dry the fridge and freezer a day before, and keep the doors slightly open so they do not smell. After the move, let the fridge stand for a few hours before switching it on.
Drain the washing machine and lock its drum if it has transit bolts. Gas cookers and geysers should be disconnected by a technician.
Split ACs need a technician to pump down the gas before removing the indoor and outdoor units – our AC team does this and installs them again at the new home.
